Our Story
Indonesia Sea Gypsy Woman Craft Handmade Soap at Off-Grid Eco Factory Foraging, Farming, and Creating Eco-Friendly Skincare Products.

Bajau or Sama Bajau, also known as the gypsies of the sea, mostly live on floating decks, small islets, and the coast of the Togean Islands, one of the most remote areas of Indonesia. Years ago, they live a nomad life traveling and living around southeast Asia; Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia. The civilization has now forced them to stay in a place.

The Bajau people live by fishing and farming on their native lands, which is currently protected by UNESCO under the Togean National Park. Thousands of tourists travel to this biodiverse area to dive and explore the wildlife.

The Bajau woman thrive and live a simple sustainable life, even though they have no phone connection, limited electricity availability, and difficult access to water. Founded by Sihkami Denting, Indonesian sustainable enthusiast, she helped Bajau women by building an eco-factory powered by solar electricity and equipped with rainwater catchment. She realized the importance for villagers to be resilient and is determined to empower the local women.

Togean Naturale works with about 20 women in different nearby villages. Producing low emission coconut soap, coconut oil, patchouli oil, bath salt, body scrub and other wellness products. The concept is to use as much ingredients from the area as possible, including generations-old coconut and patchouli farming, seaweed farming, and beeswax foraging in the forest.

They main goal is to empower more women in villages, inspire young people and remind them of the importance of natural products and their impact on the environment, and to protect and sustain the life of our local farmers. Working with the Togean Indonesian National Park team, Togean Naturale is committed to protecting our environment.
